Festival of Cricket Silver Jubilee 2013

Festival of cricket silver jubilee raffle draw winning numbers & cricket highlights >>

The Festival of Cricket, celebrating silver jubilee this year has moved to a larger picturesque location in North-West London, the biggest venue so far in the history of the event. The energetic and efficient combination of the President Dr. Gnana Sankaralingam of Royal College and the Vice-President Mr. Nalin Atukorale of Trinity College working in unison, were able to secure this dream venue of Merchant Taylors School Grounds in Northwood HA6 2HT. Situated between Watford and Harrow, it is easily approachable by Road using M25 and MI, and is five minute walk from Moor park station on the Metropolitan line. The event will be held on Sunday 28th July, and due to the location around which vast majority of Sri Lankans live, a massive crowd of about 5,000 is expected. There are six pitches to play the seven-a-side cricket tournament and a seventh field to erect marquees, which gives protection to spectators from cricket ball injuries. It has a large area for car parking which could accommodate over 1000 cars, and therefore people can come without any fear of going around searching for a place to park their cars. There will be plenty of trade stalls displaying Sri Lankan merchandise as well as cooking Sri Lankan foods. The perimeter of the playing field is tree lined which gives shade to spectators. There are large areas free from cricket ball hassle, where people can bring their parasols, mats, folding chairs and sit and enjoy a picnic atmosphere. There will also be merry-go-round, bouncy castle, mat slide etc for children to have a carnival feeling. There will be bands playing from 2 pm to 8 pm for the younger crowd to revel and also a Sri Lankan operated bar to sell both Sri Lankan and foreign beverages. Led from the front by the President and ably supported by his committee, they are taking great pains to organize a memorable event and all in all people can expect a superb event never seen in the past.

Dr. Gnana Sankaralingam
