CJ seeks action against PSC members who insulted her

Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake wrote to Speaker Chaml Rajapaksa urging him to take action against some of the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) members who had allegedly insulted her during the impeachment probe.

Writing through her lawyers Neelakandan and Neelakandan, the CJ complained that the gestures made and mannerisms displayed by some of the members of the PSC were totally unacceptable.

Writing in detail the alleged defaming words used by the PSC members, the CJ asked the Speaker to take appropriate action against them.

“We trust you will agree that such behaviour is inappropriate in any circumstances. It must be even more so when the respondent is the Chief Justice of the country and a lady at that,” the lawyers claimed. (Susitha R. Fernando)
