Army Commander Jagath Jayasuriya said there was a high demand for Sri Lanka Army courses offered to foreign servicemen.
“The demand has risen now that the war has ended. We offer four such courses for foreign servicemen,” he said. “The most important part is that we conduct such training courses which have been enriched by personal and practical experiences gained during the war.”
The courses are mostly on battlefield tactics and methods along with warfare strategies. Such courses are offered for foreign military personnel after the conflict ended in May 2009.
Recently Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa said the United States should open up training opportunities for Sri Lankan military personnel.
The highest number of training courses offered to the Sri Lankan Armed Forces is by India with around 2,800, Pakistan comes second with more than 1,000 and China also offers several courses with much more to come.(Supun Dias)
