England one-day coach Ashley Giles has hit back at claims of ball-tampering from former captain Bob Willis.
Willis made the allegations following England’s Champions Trophy defeat to Sri Lanka on Thursday, where umpires Aleem Dar and Billy Bowden elected to change the ball during England’s 26th over in the field.
But Giles says Willis’ claims that his players had been scratching the surface of the ball are nonsense and insists the change was made for completely legitimate reasons.
‘We don’t tamper with the ball and I hope we can talk about something else,’ said Giles.
