The reconstructed Iranamadu airstrip in the Kilinochchi District was declared open by President Mahinda Rajapaksa today (June 15), on an invitation extended by the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrema. Initially constructed by the LTTE and destroyed using bulldozers, the runway was reconstructed by the Air Force to extend up to 1500m with a width of 25 metres. Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, General Jagath Jayasuriya and Minister of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise, Douglas Devananda also graced the event.
