Athula Dassana International Buddhist temple held on their 3rd food festival successfully at the Lampton School, Lampton Avenue, TW3 4EP on Saturday 2nd of March2013. This day was special as not only for all Sri Lankans but also other communities. Devotees and other members of the community could remember the past event of food festivals of the last year organised by this temple under the guidance of the head of the temple Ven. Wanduramba Kassapa Thero.
“Blend of Delicacies 2013” is a fundraising event, organised with the aim of contributing towards the community development project of Athula Dassana International Buddhist temple, which enhance the way of the life of needy children & youngsters in Sri Lanka. At “Blend of Delicacies 2013”, all communities had an extreme opportunity to experienced various Sri Lankan food items and enjoy an Authentic Sri Lankan Buffet.
The main sponsor of the event was Thilina Sri Lanka, the owner of Mr. Ranga Ranasinghage of the company and their team were gave us to great support for success that event.
The chief guests were Miss Soorya Samaraweera, Mr.Shantha Disanayake, Dr. B. Nishani, Mr. Amal Edirisooriya, Mrs.Irangani Samarakoon, Mrs.Poshini Bogoda, Mrs.Anuradha Ihalagedara and they were lighted the traditional oil lamp. Athula Dassana International Buddhist Temple Dancing group” Saro”, Roshan Lute leads with his group was presented items of highlighted the festival.
We were expected we have a great selection of the traditional Sri Lankan foods. It’s mainly taste of buffet with including traditional Sri Lankan foods and also with other tastes. As well as had a opportunity to buy all of the foods, and also had a stall of “ Yummy Yummy Cakes” with different tastes. They were also donate for the temple through their foods.
At the last part of festival there was draw the raffles and all were had a chance to entered for it. And the winners could be won the gift package by the Athula Dassana International Buddhist temple. Many of parties were given their support for success of that event. Parents of the Dhamma School and other devotees were provided the all ingrediance of foods, and some of the devotees were given their support for preparing the foods. Mrs. Menaka Amarathunge, Mrs. Iranganee Samarakoon, Mr.Pradeep Welikanna, Mr Anandan gave us to great support for this event.
For the food festival, more than 400 visitors came to taste the Sri Lankan foods. There had a wide range Sri Lankan food. And devotees of the temple and sponsors who were gave a great support for success the event.
The temple opened on the 7th July 2011 and the temple was held a number of various religious, cultural and social services within this first year. 2012 temple was its first experience of food festival. During this period it was done many social and community services as this event.
