Sri Lanka Under-19 makes early exit

Sri Lanka made an early exit in the ongoing ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup series as Bangladesh replaced Sri Lanka in the second place of Group ‘D’ points table, beating associate member Namibia by seven wickets in Peter Burge Oval at Brisbane, Australia yesterday.

Sri Lanka who were drawn in the toughest group (Group ‘D’) with two Test playing nations, along with South Africa and Bangladesh, only managed to taste a solitary win, defeating associate member Namibia by 195 runs in their second match.

All the Test playing nations, except Sri Lanka, qualified for the quarter-finals.

Australia and England from Group ‘A’, Pakistan and New Zealand from Group ‘B’, West Indies and India from Group ‘C’ and South Africa and Bangladesh from Group ‘D’ were through to the next round.

Australia and Bangladesh will play the first quarter-final match on August 19 at Townsville.
