AROUND 100 RECOMMENDATIONS REJECTED BY SL AT UPR

Special Envoy of the President on Human Rights, Mahinda Samarasinghe stated that around 100 of the recommendations put forward at the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) regarding Sri Lanka were rejected following concluding session yesterday (November 5).

Minister Samarasinghe stated that the response regarding Sri Lanka’s report had been favourable by most countries while he thanked the 98 countries that made interventions during the review on November 1.

Out of the 210 recommendations made by other countries on Sri Lanka, 111 were accepted he further added in a statement while he also said that Sri Lanka’s position concerning the recommendation that did not enjoy its support was conveyed in a responsible and respectful manner.
